Group Homes



Coleman Residential Services operates two group homes, one in Windham and another in Kent, Ohio. The specialized residential group living service is able to provide education, socialization, recreation, medication monitoring and independent living skill training for adults with behavioral problems and severe mental disabilities striving toward community integration. The program is designed to maximize one's ability to live in the least restrictive environment, attain and maintain independent living in the community, minimize hospitalization and provide persons with the ability to control behaviors that are socially unacceptable.


Who We Help:

The Specialized Residential Group Living program is designed to help the following individuals:
  • Lack independent living objectives
  • Lack independent living skills
  • Lack socialization skills
  • Poor use of leisure/recreation time
  • Poor independent living history
  • Low motivation
  • Poor support group/network
  • Inadequate vocational skills
  • Poor self-care/hygiene skills
  • Homeless
  • People living in substandard housing
  • Exhibit challenging behaviors
Services Provided at Group Homes:
  • Independent living skill training (laundry, meal preparation and planning, chore completion, hygiene)
  • Socialization skill training (weekly outings to community resources)
  • Leisure/recreational skill training (provision of groups on a daily basis)
  • Mental health consumerism
  • Links with resources at or beyond Coleman Professional Services
  • Medication monitoring
  • Three (3) meals per day plus two (2) snacks and special diets
  • Transportation education
